Le pont de St Martory. (1724 – 1727)
Ce pont de trois arches sur la Garonne intègre dans sa construction une porte qui défendait l’ancienne ville.
Les travaux ont été menés par l’intendant d’ Etigny (à qui l'on doit aussi l’arche du Barrerat – voir photo) et l’ Evêque du Comminges.
Il est caractéristique de l’école classique française entre 1650 et 1750.
La partie triangulaire profilée d’une pile permettait de réduire les remous et de dévier les corps flottants.
La famille des Montpezat, comte de Comminges, a successivement construit deux châteaux à Saint-Martory : le premier (XIe siècle) surplombe la ville sur la colline de Montpezat, l'autre (Renaissance) est bâti sur la rive droite de la Garonne (voir photo).

St Martory’s Bridge. (1724 - 1727)
This bridge with three arches over the Garonne includes a door which protected the ancient town.
The work was conducted by Intendant d’ Etigny (who also built Barrerat arch - see picture) and the Bishop of Comminges.
It is characteristic of the French classical school between 1650 and 1750.
The triangular section profile of a pile allowed to reduce the backwater and divert floating bodies.
The family of Montpezat, Count of Comminges, built two castles in Saint-Martory: the first one (XI century) overlooks the town on Montpezat hill, the other one (Renaissance) is built on the right bank of the Garonne. (see picture).
