New Brunswick Memories Wickham Cable Ferry - news item taken from "The Saint John Daily Telegraph"; Wickham June 23,1929: The new cable ferry, running from Wickham to Hampstead, is now in operation and will be known as the Wickham-Hampstead ferry. Great creit is due Commissioner D.L. Jones and Overseers E. Akerly and S.Humphrey. Tourists and travellers now visiting this section will find satisfaction,more especially after the trunk road has been completed between Gerow's Wharf and Belyea's Cove. This ferry serviced the people for over 79 years untill the Goverment shut it down in November 2008.
