Le puy de CLIERSOU, anciennes carrières de sarcophages gallo-romaines.

Ce volcan de type peléen (comme le Puy de Dôme),a servi au II ème siècle de carrière de sarcophages pour les Gallo-Romains, du fait de sa roche tendre, la domite.
Ce sera une excursion de 3 à 4 heures, au départ du camp militaire de la Fontaine du Berger.
Garez vous en N 45°47.931 E 002°59.521 et suivez le chemin face à vous jusqu'en N 45°47.539 E 002°58.633 et prenez celui de gauche qui monte le plus.
Arrivés au col redescendez jusqu'en N 45°47.594 E 002°58.124, ou vous prendrez à gauche. Au pied du puy, une pancarte indique le bon chemin, sur la droite.
Encore un raidillon, et vous êtes à 1175 m d'altitude.
Actuellement, ces grottes artificielles ne servent plus guère qu'aux berger, mais lors de leur exploitation, les esclaves qui travaillaient là ont sculpté la "déesse" relief grossier représentant une femme (entrée de droite). Par l'entrée de gauche en vous acroupissant vous allez au fond de la grotte où se trouve une sortie d'aération, ou de fuite.
Vous verrez les ébauches de sarcophages inachevés à certains endroits, notamment le petit promontoire en arrivant devant les cavernes.
Prévoyez une lampe pour profiter pleinement de cet endroit "mystérieux".
