Geocache Description:

First TB Hotel in Singapore center

On a day in July I was standing in this city the pockets full of TB´s from home meant to travel to the far east but all around me no box big enough to hold these TB monsters. No quick-and-easy-finds for travellers with limited time.
So I decided, with the help of local friends, to open the first TB Hotel in this amazing city. We´ve found a good neighborhood for it, I guess, a dry and fresh place in an old house, lots of surveillance cameras around and close to many other high class hotels. The TB´s waiting here to travel on don´t have to bide their time in the woods.

The above coordinates will bring you close to the building.
It is said to be a cultural icon of Singapore, and from where you stand you have a great view to the rotunda dome, built in 1887 meant to hold the Raffles Library and Museum, in commemoration of Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the founder of Singapore. The wings on either sides are expansions from the following years.

At the backside modern architecture dominates, the Glass Passage, built in 2003 is one of the world´s largest self-supporting glass structures. There you will also find the box.

Today the building holds a rich variety of galleries, historical museum, art exhibitions.
It is open from 10 am until 8 pm every day, usually even longer, ( open as long as the restaurant is open ).
There is no admission charge for entering the house.
The cache is in one of the buildings lockers, the locker yard is at Level 2 near the restrooms. To open the locker all you need to know is the exact date when Singapore became independent. ( precisely said: the day Singapore celebrates as independence day ).
( 8 digits, dd.mm.yyyy ).

Once you´ve found the yard with the visitor´s storage lockers,
Lee Hsien Loong, Singapore´s prime minister himself ( he also patronised for the cache´s name ) will show you the right locker. So make sure you know how he looks like before you enter the house. Imagine you wouldn´t recognise him, how embarassing, he´s got such a fatherly and winning smile.

TB Hotel´s rules:
You can drop as much coins and TB as you want.
You can also retrieve as much coins and TB´s as you want, but then you have to help them fulfilling their missions.
Please log all TB and GC movements during the next couple of days in respect of the owners who usually want to know their whereabouts.
In case of inquiries or problems there is email and telnr of a local contact person in the box.

To get there from Changi Airport:
Take the train from Terminal 2 or 3 into the city, change at city hall, exit at Doby Ghaut, walk 5 min. ( appr. 45 min. )

Eat:
Try Kopitian one block away at Bencoolen St., not exellent, but reasonable and cheap asian food.
Shop:
Orchard Road, long line of shopping centers

I recommend you to visit the History Gallery of the house ( 10am - 6pm, S$10 ), an atmospheric introduction into the history of Singapore.
