Aukštaitija National Park is one of the richest protected areas
in Lithuania from the floristic point of view. Everyone who is
interested in all kinds of plants is welcome to the Botanical
trail. It circles near Lake Lušiai between Paluše and Meironys
village. The trail is about 3,5-km long and is marked with a
special sign – white square with green diagonal. More than 150
plant species are presented on this trail; nine of which are
included on the Lithuanian Red List.
Botanical path circles near Lake Lušiai between Paluše and
Meironys villages. The path is about 3,5-km long, coiling down the
slopes and bases of the big hill. There are many small lakelets,
rivulets and small swamps hiding in the hollows of the hill,
surrounded by small natural blooming lawns and quiet murmur of
boscage. The botanical path is rich with rare and infrequent
varieties of plants: here you can see about 70 kinds of different
plants. The botanical path is interesting not only for its flora
but fauna as well. Here you can see “a bat’s house”, a net of a
bird of prey, “wedding” of toads and the biggest woodpecker in
Lithuania – a black woodpecker.
