Sacrario militare di Pian dei Salesei

[ITA] Il sacrario militare di Pian dei Salesei sorge nella omonima frazione del comune di Livinallongo del Col di Lana, nell'alta Val Cordevole, in provincia di Belluno. Il sacrario dista poco meno di 2 chilometri dal comune di Livinallongo del Col di Lana, lungo la strada statale 48 delle Dolomiti. Il sacrario è stato costruito nel 1938 sul progetto dell'architetto G. Greppi e dello scultore G. Castiglioni, ed oggi raccoglie i resti di oltre 5000 caduti della Prima Guerra Mondiale (1915-1918). In particolare, nel sacrario riposano 704 caduti noti, di cui 19 austro-ungarici, e oltre 4700 caduti ignoti. Visto dall'alto, il sacrario forma una grande croce bianca. Il quadro architettonico è completato da una chiesetta alpina, unica testimonianza di un pre-esistente cimitero di guerra. Il sacrario presenta diverse spallette parallele in muratura in cui sono disposti i loculi dei caduti identificati, chiusi da lastre di marmo verde, con incisi il nome e il grado di ciascun militare. Tra i caduti tumulati in questo luogo sono presenti anche alcune medaglie d'oro:

Ten. Salaris Ignazio (45° Rgt Fanteria)
S.Ten Verdinois Alberto (82 Rgt)
All'interno della chiesetta sono invece raccolti i resti dei Caduti non identificati in una grande tomba comune. Lungo il viale d'accesso del sacrario si possono anche notare 14 monoliti con i nomi delle località dove si svolsero i principali combattimenti della zona.
Questa è una veloce e facile nano-cache, che vi permetterà di visitare il sacrario e, magari, porgere un omaggio a tutti questi "ragazzi" che con il loro sacrificio hanno contribuito creare il nostro Paese. La cache è nascosta nel muretto che delimita il sacrario. Una volta firmato il logbook, si prega di rinasconderla bene! Buona caccia!




[ENG] The military charnel house of Pian dei Salesei is built in the homonymous village, under the municipality of Livinallongo del Col di Lana, in the province of Belluno. The military charnel house is located less than 2 kilometers from the village of Livinallongo del Col di Lana, along the "strada statale" 48 of the Dolomites. The military charnel house was built in 1938 on the original project of G. Greppi and G. Castiglioni, and now collects the remains of more than 5000 fallen war veterans died during the WW1 (1915-1918). In particular: 704 known war-deceased soldiers, of which 19 Austro-Hungarian, and more than 4700 unidentified died. Seen from above, the charnel house creates a great white cross. The architectural framework is supplemented by a small Alpine church, the only witness to a pre-existing war cemetery. Among the dead buried in here are some gold medals:

S. Ten Verdinois Alberto (82 Rgt)
Inside the church are collected the remains of the fallen unidentified in a large common grave. Along the avenue of access from the shrine you can see 14 monoliths with names of places where the main battles of the area were carried out.
This is a fast and easy nano-cache, allowing you to visit the shrine and, perhaps, offer a tribute to all those "boys" who by their sacrifices have helped create the our country. The cache is hidden in the wall that delimits the shrine. Once signed the logbook, please hiding the cache well! Happy hunting!
