Geocache Description:

Meltdown
Among other factors, one of the natural features that affect and are affected by changes in Earth’s climate is Glaciers. Glaciers are frozen fresh-water reservoirs that change volume in response to changes in temperature and snowfall.

Ice and snow also play an important role in the global energy balance by reflecting from 60 to 90 percent of the solar radiation they receive. On a scale more relevant to peoples' daily lives, the seasonal melting of mountain glaciers contributes to summertime river flow and to the ongoing sea-level rise.

In time scale, lakes and rivers stores fresh water for hundred or few thousand of years as opposite to glaciers that could reach tens of thousands of years but because the shorter glacier timescales are comparable to human timescales, people get notice how glaciers change, and these changes have obvious impacts on the human environment. Many river systems depend on glacier melt, which maintains the water supply through the summer. As glaciers shrink, so does the frozen water supply they store. This is only one of the reasons why it is important to measure how and understand why glaciers change over time.

The given coordinates will lead you right at the middle of one stream resulting of the Bossons Glacier meltdown. This stream is feed by the high discharges processes of the glacier and is color is due to the large volumes of sediment dissolved on it also produced by Bossons erosion process
