Geocache Description:

The starting coordinates are bogus. Do not go there. This cache is an example of what could have been, IF the various state governments of the past (and present) had allowed the railway line to extend further south than Cranbourne Station. Imagine a sporting complex in this area with its own railway station. The ability to be able to hold bigger AFL events, cycling and soccer etc all without the need to get there by car would have made this area a lot better used than it is now.

This cache is just a small part of the tourist rail link that could have been a major money earner for the State Governments and the various tourist spots that are down this way. We have art galleries, wineries, cafe's and restaurants that could all benefit from a tourist rail link to Phillip Island and beyond. We imagine that a steam rail trip all the way to Yarram could take about a week and it could turn into a gourmets delight with a difference. However this cache is just the start of the line and so as we pull into Casey Fields Station for a break and a bit of a walk around, we can imagine all the attendants to the steam engine running around checking the wheels etc, loading up with wood and water for the engine to ensure safe running down to the next stop. The buskers would be about singing their songs or doing their juggling acts, whilst local produce hawkers would be selling their wares and the local cafes would be selling snacks to keep the tourists satisfied till the next stop.

The co-ordinates of the cache location is based around the station names as listed below. By using a common geocaching tool, you should be able to work out the co-ordinates of the cache. Please add the following numbers to the station names below to get your co-ordinates.
+7, -2, -7, -14, 0, -1, -18, -2, -1
+2, -17, +3, -9, -1, -7, -16, -11, -9, -5
In our confusion to set up this cache, we may have jumbled up some of the words or letters, but we are sure you can work it out. Ticket

This is a simple cache designed to start you on the journey. It is not too hard to find and we hope that you will take care when retrieving and replacing the cache so it is not visible to the local muggles going to watch the footy or the security guard who visits at other times. Please bring a pen for signing the log. This cache is now available 24/7 and is ok for night visits. We recommended taking gloves with you and proper shoes. We do not recommend bare feet or thongs at night due to the amount of glass and rusty nails that could be around GZ.
