The church of St Mary the Virgin, Widdington dates from the 12th century, when the monks of Priors Hall and the owners of Widdington Hall combined to build the church.
The tower collapsed in 1771 bringing down the five bells. Three were dug out of the rubble unharmed and were sold. The tower was rebuilt in 1873 and three new bells installed, a gift from Mr Francis Smith; who also donated the Lych Gate.
The village of Widdington appears in the Domesday Book as Widintuna. The cache is a 35mm film container. Please bring your own pen. The cache is not in the churchyard.
