Jardim dos Amuados
O Jardim dos Amuados está
localizado no coração da Zona Histórica de Loulé, junto à Igreja
Matriz, trata-se de um espaço verde que se enquadra na área
envolvente. Do miradouro é possível ter uma bela vista sobre a
cidade.
Igreja Matriz de
São Clemente
As origens desta Igreja remontam à
2ª metade do século Xlll. No dia 4 de Dezembro de 1298 a Igreja de
S. Clemente passou para a Ordem Militar de São Tiago .
O terramoto de 1755 danificou bastante esta igreja, particularmente
as abóbadas da capela-mor, de uma capela colateral, da capela de S.
Brás e ainda a torre. Em 1856, um novo abalo provocou estragos na
fachada, na cobertura e na sacristia da capela das Almas. O sismo
de 1969 obrigou a uma intervenção séria da Direcção Geral de
Edifícios e Monumentos Nacionais, que valorizou alguns elementos
medievais adulterados na reconstrução oitocentista. Foi
classificada como Monumento Nacional pelo decreto n° 9842 de 20 de
Junho de 1924.
Em 1739 o mestre entalhador João
Amado, então residente em Loulé, tomou por contrato a feitura de um
retábulo de madeira de castanho para a capela de S. Brás. O
referido mestre comprometia-se a fazê-lo durante dois anos de
acordo "com todas as circunstâncias e regras da arquitectura da
talha moderna" pelo preço de 240$00, (2 Euros).
De entre os testemunhos da
arquitectura
árabe na região algarvia aponta-se a
torre,
único elemento sobrevivente da mesquita de Loulé. A almádena foi
construída no século Xll pelos almohadas, servindo para o muezin
chamar os crentes à oração. Após a Reconquista, foi adaptada ao
culto cristão, tendo-se colocado na abóbada do campanário o brasão
de armas português. No século XVI tinha dois sinos grandes e em
cima um relógio. Posteriormente sofreu algumas modificações.

located in heart of the Historical Zone of Loulé, near the Mother
church, it the question is a green space that is fitted in the
involving area. Of the viewpoint it is possible to have a beauty
seen on the city.
Mother church of São
Clemente
The origins of this Church raise to the 2nd half of the century
Xlll. In the day 4 of December of 1298 the Church of S. Clemente
passed for the Military Order of Saint Tiago.
The earthquake of 1755 damaged enough this church, particularly the
vaults of the chapel - mor, of a collateral chapel, of the chapel
of S. Brás and still the tower. In 1856, a new shock provoked
destructions in the front, in the covering and in the sacristy of
the chapel of the Souls. The sismo of 1969 obliged to a serious
intervention of the General Direction of Buildings and National
Monuments, which it valued some medieval elements adulterated in
the reconstruction oitocentista. There was classified like National
Monument by the decree n ° 9842 of 20 of June of 1924.
In 1739 the main woodcarver John Amado, then resident in Loulé,
took for contract the work of a wooden retábulo of chestnut for the
chapel of S. Brás. The above-mentioned master was pledging himself
to do it during two years of agreement " with all the circumstances
and rules of the architecture of the modern carving " at the price
of 240$00, (2 Euros).
Of between the evidences of the Arab architecture in the region
from the Algarve it begins to appear - if the tower, the only
surviving element of the mosque of Loulé. The minaret was built in
the century Xll by the almohadas, serving to call the muezin the
believers to the prayer. After the Reconquest, it was adapted to
the Christian worship, when the Portuguese coat of arms of arms put
in the vault of the belfry. In the century XVI it had two big bells
and in top a clock. Subsequently it suffered some
modifications.
