The coordinates for this cache WILL
NOT TAKE YOU TO THE CACHE! Rather, they are the parking
coordinates. You're going to need to do some interesting work to
arrive at the actual location for the cache.
One of our favorite cache hides was CYBret’s
"How Far Can You Walk Into The
Woods?" It was a great concept and we decided to
duplicate in our area. We even lifted a bit of the write-up,
with Bret’s permission of course.
Remember the old brainteaser, "How far can you walk into the
woods?" Of course the answer is, "Half way." Because once you're
half way in, you're walking out of the woods! Get it?
Lambs Woods is a basically rectangular 75-acre preserve on the
outskirts of Lockport. This cache was placed at its center,
so whichever way you approach, it is half way in. The best
approach of course is from the posted parking coordinates.
The center point was determined utilizing the four yellow FPD
boundary marker signs placed at each corner of the preserve.
All are fairly easy to access. Of course you may try Google
Earth, draw an X on a map, or just wander into the woods until you
get to the middle. That will be up to you. Keep in
mind, there are no
trails here. If a little
bushwhacking is not your cup of tea, you might want to pass on this
one.
If you have any trouble accessing all four signs in the field,
e-mail us and we will send you the coords for them.
This cache was placed with permission from the Will County Forest
Preserve District. Please familiarize with all preserve rules
and regulations.
