[LT] Burinis laivas, Klaipedos simbolis.
[EN] Old ship, symbol of Klaipeda.

[ LT ] Mokomasis burlaivis “Meridianas” pastatytas 1948 metais Suomijoje, Turku laivu statykloje kaip kontribucija Tarybu Sajungai po Antrojo pasaulinio karo kartu su kitais 48 tokio tipo burlaiviais. Laivas, atitekes Klaipedos jureivystes mokyklai, buvo daugelio pokario busimuju laivavedžiu, kapitonu pirmasis laivas. “Meridianas” kaip mokomasis burlaivis nustojo veikes 1967 metais.
Po dvieju metu “Meridianas” atplauke i Danes upe ir po pertvarkymu 1971 m. jame pradejo veikti restoranas. Anuomet tai buvo visu klaipediškiu megiamas restoranas.
Veliau “Meridianas” dar karta remontuotas, atnaujintas jo interjeras, medinis korpusas “ivilktas” i skardo šarva. Laivas-restoranas, stovedamas prie Danes krantines tapo neatskiriama uostamiescio dalimi.
2001 metais laiva už simbolini viena lita iš savivaldybes nupirko Vyriausybes atstovo Klaipedos apskrityje juristas patarejas Arturas Žickus, kuris emesi iniciatyvos prikelti “Meridiana” naujam gyvenimui.
Šiandien “Meridianas” populiarus restoranas, kuriame galima paragauti tradicišku juros gerybiu patiekalu, išskirtinio Reineke alaus, verdamo pagal senasias tradicijas, bei pasiklausyti populiariosios muzikos.

[ EN ] Along the river Dane and near the bridge you will see the sailing vessel “Meridianas”. “Meridianas“ was built in 1948 in Finland and is now one of the most beautiful sights of Klaipeda. The Klaipeda Navigation School used the sailing vessel for training purposes. When the vessel was laid up, it was turned into a restaurant and moored near the Dane River bank. Some ten years ago the owners who bought the vessel allowed it to fall into disrepair.
So a few years later the symbol of the city became nothing but a shadow of its former glory. The lawyer A. Žickus then bought the Meridianas for a token sum of one Litas and the “Meridianas“ once again became the symbol of Klaipeda. He organised a support fund and gave new life to the vessel. Today the restaurant “Meridianas“ is again open to visitors.
