Geocache Description:

This is a Handy bit of fun Cache to do on the way in or way out of Shrewsbury.

This Cache is a bit of 'Armless Fun' and replaces another cache i had in the same spot but changed the name in the style of cache placed on this historic site. The Church is called St Eata's after a seventh century saint, The church is said to be from the norman period between 1066-1154 era there is also 2 bridges across the river severn the oldest being built in 1774. This is a lovely tranquil area the church sits on the River Severn and on a nice sunny day have a pew on one of the benches by the river or in the church yard. The Pub to the left just before you get into the churchyard is called Mytton and Mermaid after a famous shropshire squire called mad Jack Mytton, legend has it that he used to chase foxes into the hotel with his hounds, He died in 1834 and on his funeral prossesion it stopped of at the Hotel on the way up to the chapel at halston on the outskirts of Oswestry, Inside the hotel there is a bar dedicated to his name 'Mad Jack's bar' There is also a famous south Shropshire walk dedicated to the Famous Squire.
