FI: Saarenpudas on vesiväylä, joen virtauksen tekemä uoma, joka yhdistää Ounas- ja Kemijoen toisiinsa. Pudas on mm. erinomainen retkimelontakohde. Virtausta ei juurikaan ole ja voimakas tuuli osuu harvoin putaalle. Talvisin pudasta pitkin kulkee moottorikelkkaura. Putaan ylittää yhdeksän siltaa.
Vaskurin silta on Lapin vanhin rautabetonisilta, ja yksi harvoista toiselta maailmansodalta säästyneistä silloista. Samalla paikalla sijaitsi Saarenkulän alueen ensimmäinen, puurakenteinen silta jo 1800-luvulla. Se oli kuitenkin niin matalarakenteinen, että tulva-aikaan tie saattoi olla jopa 3-4 metriä veden alla. Ainakin kolmesti jäät veivät koko sillan mennessään. Uutta siltaa suunniteltiin jo 1916, mutta ensimmäisen maailmansodan vuoksi se päästiin rakentamaan vasta 1924-25. Vuodesta 1982 Vaskurin silta on ollut suojelukohde, joten kätkö sijaitsee hiukan sivussa itse sillasta.
EN: Saarenpudas is the water way between Ounasjoki and Kemijoki rivers. It's a great way to paddle in summer time. The water goes very calmly and there is hardly ever hard wind. In winter time there is also a snowmobile route going on Saarenpudas. There is 9 bridges crossing Saarenpudas.
Vaskuri Bridge is the oldest reinforced concrete bridge in Lapland, and one of the very few spared the World War 2. In same place there used to be a bridge made of wood already in the 19th century, the first bidge in Saarenkylä area. It was so low that at flood time the road could be as much as 3-4 meters under water, and at least three times the whole bridge was destroyed by the ice. Plans for the new bridge started in 1916, but because of the World War 1, the bridge was not constructed until 1924-25. Since 1982 Vaskuri Bridge was accepted for preservation, so the cache is a little bit on the side of the bridge.
