Geocache Description:

The cache is placed in the beautiful reconstruction of the Elroy rail station, of the old “Jezreel Valley railway”. Very easy to access. About 20 meters from the parking. At about ground level. While looking for it, please be careful of snakes.

The Jezreel Valley railway, or simply the Valley railway (Hebrew: Rakevet HaEmek) refers to a historical railroad in Ottoman and British Palestine, which was part of the larger Hejaz railway and ran along the Jezreel Valley.

It was built in the beginning of the 20th century and connected Haifa with the rest of the Hejaz railway, its last stop within the Palestine Mandate borders being al-Hamma. After many failed attempts, the final planning and construction lasted 4 years. The railway was inaugurated on October 15, 1905 and operated until the middle of the 20th century.

The Elroy station is a beautiful reconstruction of the ancient station. Children can play there, and there are picnic tables as well. The cache is hidden at ground level. It is a small plastic container with a log and small toys.
