This event is one small part of the WWFM V - World Wide Flash Mob
Geocaching Event. There are more than 135 events scheduled in
20 countries.
The event location is definitely stroller accessible. We rated
the terrain at 1.5 because there are some icy patches and loose
rock in the 10th Street pedestrian underpass and because the
limited parking off 10th Street means you may need to park in the
larger lot off 30th Avenue and walk to the posted coordinates
(maybe 500 – 600 meters).
PRIOR TO EVENT - PLEASE stay at least a little distance away
from ground zero until just before the event starts. Since May 2 is
the official Groundspeak CITO day, consider bringing an empty
grocery or garbage bags, a pair of gloves and doing a mini-CITO as
you make your way towards the event coordinates. Or bring you
camera and check out the ducks and geese in the creek and
surrounding wetlands. There’s also a playground near the parking
area just off 30th Avenue at the east end of the park. If all of
that seems too energetic, carry your coffee to a nearby picnic
table or park bench for a pre-event chat with like-minded
attendees.
START OF THE EVENT - This event will last EXACTLY 15
minutes and will begin precisely at 11:00 am (Mountain Daylight
Time) when the GeoKs blow a whistle and place the log bucket at
ground zero. Hand-outs, including name tags, will be available from
event volunteers.
You MUST be present and hand in a 4x6 index card log to claim
this event. Please bring your index card log already prepared –
include your geocaching name, the number of people attending the
event under that name and any comments. If you want to decorate
your card, please do, as these 4x6 index cards will be bound
together to create the log book for the event.

DURING THE EVENT - Feel free to mingle, share stories,
introduce yourself to new faces, or swap trackables. There will be
a special drop off bin for any trackables you’d like Sears Tower to
take to Europe on May 3. We’ll ask you to assemble for a group
photo to capture the “C of Red” for the WWFM V photo montage
(official event photographer is our Oldest GeoKid). Then at 11:10
we'll make a few prize draws (donations welcome) before dispersing
promptly at 11:15. Anything that happens after 11:15:01 does not
count as part of this event!
POST EVENT – If you’ve never hunted for one of the “brass
caps” associated with outforthehunt’s
Brass Cap
Cache, we’d be happy to give you a hand searching for the
“Wedding Cap”. We’re also working on a couple of new geocaches that
will be published right after the event.
We need your help! Please tell your geocaching friends
and family about this event as we’d like beat our turn out of 70
people at WWFM III last May.
Volunteers welcome. Volunteer positions include: handing
out geocaching brochures to any curious muggles, draw prize
assistant, trackables coordinator, distributing event hand-outs to
attendees, etc. If you’re able to help out at the event, please
send us an e-mail via our profile or include a comment in your
“will attend” log.
Other things you should know
Parking is available on either side of 10th Street, with pedestrian
underpass access from the west side of 10th Street to the event
location. These parking areas have room for somewhere around 30
vehicles. A larger parking area is located off 30th Ave towards the
east end of the park.
Public restrooms are available in the small Calgary Parks
facility located a few hundred meters east of the event
coordinates.
Remember
Wear RED – Flames jersey optional. Maybe we’ll even cheer for the
home team!
Bring your completed index card log sheet.
