The building we see here today dates back to the 13th century and
is made of Kentish ragstone, puddingstone and possibly Roman
tile.
It consists of a nave, chancel, alter, side aisle, scaristy and a
fine stone tower. The earliest part of the church the aisle and a
arches date from c1225.
There are four ancient bells in the tower - all have been recast.
Three of them date from 1591. The fourth recast in the 19th century
bears the ancient prayer Sancte Petre Ora Pro Nobis (St
Peter Pray for us).
Most of the stained glass dates from the 19th century. However, the
small window at the east end of the aisle bearing the inscription
'Let everything that has breath Praise the Lord' is a
compliation of medieval glass.
The font dates from the early 15th century and is early
perpendicular in style.
The earliest recorded Rector of the parish Radulphus, was
instituted in 1181 and the list of rectors is unbroken from
1324.
