Geocache Description:

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series.

It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. Its a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too.

In Saxon times was one of the major villages within the Dengie Hundred. The name derives from the Parish Church or Minster and was the south Minster to distinguish it from the other Minster at St Peter, Bradwell on sea. The village provided a centre for neighbouring villages with a market place, traders and thrice yearly horse fair.
The village continued to develop around the church and by the 18th Century it was the centre of farming with an animal market and an annual horse fair.
The coming of the railways and the development of large scale gravel extraction further developed the importance of Southminster which has begun to wane by the end of the 20th century in favour of Burnham on Crouch.

The cache is brazenly hidden and ultimate stealth will be required!
