Geocache Description:

A cache located in the desert (500m distance to the street) at Wadi Shagra 20km north of Marsa Alam

This place is famous for its beautiful "MARSA" (bay in front of the wadi). It is the home of "red sea diving safari".
The cache is located nearby the diving camp and the deco chamber of Marsa Alam.
It is a short walk into the desert, with beautiful stone formations and should be done best in the morning or afternoon,
It is interesting to know that Wadi Shagra was flooded in 1994 had not seen water in 70 years according to some elderly beduin.

Marsa Shagra
One of the most beautiful house reefs in the southern Red Sea operated by Red Sea Diving Safari. According to the author of Collins Reef guide, Marsa Shagra is home to 15 endemic fish species, about 300 other species of fish, and 100 types of corals. The bay is frequented by dolphins and manta rays during certain seasons. The north and south reefs feature walls that slope down to a sandy bottom at about 15m. The sandy bottom is littered with hard coral and extends approximately 8-10m, before sloping down to 50m+. White and black tip reef sharks, different ray species, resident turtles, barracudas, grouppers, mackerels, nudibranches and a lot of very colorful coral patches are just some of the highlights. A very pleasant dive site suitable for any level diver.
