Geocache Description:

Cache is a cache’n’dash micro, which is accessible to all, although it may be a little high for someone sat on a buggy or wheelchair. (roughly 4ft from ground) along a dead-end lane which becomes the Stour Valley Way footpath. Please park in the lane and not in the school parking area nearby.

Church Micro 535 Marnhull Roman Catholic Church.

Our Lady’s Church, Old Mill Lane, Marnhull Dorset is in the oldest Parish in the Diocese of Plymouth, even though it’s the biggest village in Dorset, and even (we think) the biggest village in England.

Nothing was known of Catholicism in this area until 1651, when the Hussey Family bought the 400 acre property of Nash Court. The 1st named priest here was Rev. Thomas Cornforth who arrived in 1725.

Rev. William Casey, whose pastorate lasted 43yrs, arrived in 1824 and is remembered for having built the Church as it now stands. This church was first blessed for use on 3rd July 1832.

This info is taken from “The Marn’ull Book” This book covers a much larger area than just Marnhull but is probably out of print now. ASIN B0000CIB4B

Whilst there, you can get the info for one of our other caches, Stour Valley Way no1 (GC1AKR6) This is a good parking point for both caches.

Please replace the cache exactly where you found it.You will need to bring your own pen or pencil as there isn't one in the cache.

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
