Try Throwin' This (Manawatu-Wanganui) Traditional Geocache

This cache will take you to the main landmark in Taihape, the self-proclaimed (and rightly so, as far as we can tell) gumboot capital of the world.

The first Gumboot Day was held in 1985 and, over the years, the event has grown to become one of (the many) kiwi touristic attractions.

The aim of the festival is to break the world record for the longest gumboot throw. The festival honours the rural lifestyle of a country renowned worldwide for its beautiful countryside, its farmland and its dairy products.

Gumboots can also be tossed skyward on any day of the year in the official gumboot throwing lane located behind the Taihape’s main shopping centre.
