Family friendly cache located in the unfinished Spring Lake Regional Park. Wear orange and beware of scheduled bow hunting in September and October.

In Memoriam
Kimberly Jean (Swenson) Hafermann
(June 20, 1958 - April 9, 2005 )

Kimberly Jean Swenson did not make a large fortune, write the great American novel, or cure an incurable disease. What she did do was provide a model of how to live one's life. I did not realize how true that was until I stood in the receiving line at my mother's wake and heard person after person after person break down and share their story of how my mother affected their life in a positive way. She almost always had a smile on her face and a caring word to say even through two bouts with cancer. Her laugh would fill a room and her WooHoo! would always find a way of making it onto special musical recordings.

Kim's teenage love of horses would transform into an adult love of rabbits. Raising and showing rabbits was her way of still having animals while providing family togetherness. My family would all pile in the van in the wee hours of the morning heading to somewhere in the midwest to show our lovely lagomorphs. The family would quickly grow to include "adopted" children that she took under her wing. Short trips to Owatonna or Grand Rapids would develop into memorable road trips to Ohio, Illinois, and Colorado. The backyard rabbit garage would create a lifetime of memories and end up winning a few national championships.

It is the times that I spent with my mom driving around being goofy that I cherish the most. Long road trips and a lack of sleep often let themselves to memorable moments and side splitting laughter. Each mile led to a new memory, a joke, and quite possibly a new name for a rabbit. These road trip conversations would inevitably lead to my mother uttering the phrase: "You'd Be Surprised!" Well mom, You'd be surprised how much you meant to those who knew you and how much those people still miss you 5 years after your passing.

My mother was all about family togetherness and what encourages family togetherness more than geocaching. This cache was placed with that idea in mind. May this cache be one of many memories you have with your family.
