Geological footpath Prümer Held EarthCache

Als die Eifel noch ein Meer war.

Im Unterdevon, Oberemsium, vor ca. 370 Mill. Jahren befanden sich große Teile der Eifel noch im Wasser. Dort lagerten sich über die Jahrtausende sediment und andere Schichten ab. Einige Stämme des Tierreiches waren im Devon schon weit entwickelt. Vor allem für wirbellose Tiere war es eine Blütezeit. Viele wurden nach ihrem absterben ebenfalls eingeschlossen und blieben dadurch als fossile Versteinerungen für die Nachwelt erhalten. Durch tektonische Verschiebung der Gesteinsebenen bildete im Laufe der Erdgeschichte entlang des heutigen Luxemburg, Belgien und der Niederlande das eifeler Mittelgebirge.
 

Auf diese Weise entstand auch die Prümer Mulde. Die Prümer Mulde ist die breiteste und tiefste der Eifeler Kalkmulden, als einzige der mitteldevonischen Kalkmulden in der Eifel weist sie in ihrem Kern einen oberdevonischen Anteil auf. In einem Arm der Prümer Mulde, der zum Naturpark Hohes Venn gehört, liegt der Geologische Wanderpfad in der Prümer Held. Oberhalb Prüm erhält man auf diesem Wanderpfad an mehreren Stellen Einblicke in unterschiedlichen Erdschichten.

Für diesen Earthcache zu loggen, nehmt den Weg von der Infotafel am Parkplatz zur Tafel am anderen Ende des Weges und nennt mir die direkte Entfernung zwischen den beiden grossen, identischen Infotafeln. Auf dem Weg kommt Ihr an verschieden Stationen mit Einblick in die Erdgeschichte vorbei. Zu jeder Station gibt es eine kleine Infotafel. Auf welchen wird zum Sammeln von Fossilien hingewiesen? Wie viele Fossilien sind auf den kleinen Tafeln abgebildet? Der Name des Standort der letzten Station ist?
Optional: Zum Log ein Bild von Euch, Eurem GPS oder Maskottchen an einer der Stationen. Bitte keine Bilder von den Infotafeln.

English Version:

Large portions of the Eifel were in the lower Devonian, upper Emsium, approx. 370 mill. years ago in the water still. Were there deposited over the millennia sediment and other layers. Some tribes of the animal kingdom were already developed far in the Devonian. Primarily for invertebrate animals it was a heyday.
