Elephant Cove is located on Motukahaua Island in the Hauraki Gulf, just off the Coromandel Peninsula, a few kilometres north of Coromandel Town. It is a popular as a shelter for boaties and as a destination for day-trippers, and you will see why when you visit. It is also common to see stingrays in the cove, which has a mostly sandy floor despite the predominantly stoney beaches.
But this cache is not located in the water or on the beaches - no, this cache requires you to climb up where you can look down into the cove, and back towards the mainland.
Please be VERY CAREFUL when searching for this cache. The cache coordinates have an estimated accuracy of 1.8m, however there are cliffs nearby and we don't want anyone to get hurt! Please bring a writing instrument with you as there isn't one in the small cache container.
