Laos – Germany 50 Years of Diplomatic Relations (1958 – 2008)
„We look back on 50 years of diplomatic relations between Germany and Laos. During this half century, a very dynamic time for our two countries, our bilateral relations have evolved into a reliable and trusting partnership.”

In these relations also the German Development Service has a helpful role.
In Laos the GDS (DED) concentrates on two priority programs: “Rural development and resource protection” and “Economic and employment promotion”. The aim of the DED is to help disadvantaged population groups to be able to participate in the socio-economic development of their country in order to guarantee them a sustainable improvement of their living conditions.

In January 2011 was the long-standing expertise of the Deutscher Entwicklungsdienst (DED) gGmbH (German Development Service), the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH (German Technical Cooperation) and Inwent – Capacity Building International, Germany, combined in the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Therefore the DED-office was closed on this place. But the cache remains here. Representatives of the GIZ you will find now in the German House in Vientiane.
The cache is hidden on the area of Wat Phonsay, directly in opposition of the GDS (DED) office in the Saysettha district in Vientiane. This place should show a little bit of the connection between the ancient culture and development of this country.
Please hide the cache in the same way you found it and adapt your behavior to the environment (appropriate clothes and calmly).
There is a local maintainer for this cache.

„Wir blicken heute auf 50 Jahre diplomatischer Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Laos. In diesem, für unsere beiden Länder sehr bewegten halben Jahrhundert, haben sich unsere bilateralen Beziehungen zu einer verlässlichen und vertrauensvollen Partnerschaft entwickelt.“

In diesen Beziehungen spielt auch der Deutsche Entwicklungsdienst (DED) eine hilfreiche Rolle.
In Laos konzentriert sich der DED auf die Programmbereiche „Ländliche Entwicklung/Ressourcenschutz“ und „Wirtschafts- und Beschäftigungsförderung“. Ziel ist die Partizipation der benachteiligten Bevölkerungsgruppen an den sozioökonomischen Entwicklungs- und Veränderungsprozessen im Land und eine nachhaltige Verbesserung ihrer Lebensbedingungen.

Im Januar 2011 wurden die Kompetenzen und langjährigen Erfahrungen des Deutschen Entwicklungsdienstes (DED) gGmbH, der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) GmbH und der Inwent - Internationale Weiterbildung und Entwicklung gGmbH in der Deutschen Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH vereint. Deshalb gibt es das Büro des DED nun nicht mehr an dieser Stelle. Der Cache bleibt jedoch bestehen. Vertreter der GIZ findet Ihr nun im Deutschen Haus in Vientiane.
Der Cache liegt auf dem Areal des Wat Phonsay, direkt gegenüber dem Büro des DED im Saysettha District in Vientiane. Dieser Ort soll ein kleinwenig die Verbindung zwischen der alten Kultur und der Entwicklung des Landes aufzeigen.
Bitte versteckt den Cache wieder so, wie ihr ihn gefunden habt und verhaltet Euch der Umgebung entsprechend (angemessene Kleidung und ruhig).
Es gibt einen lokalen Cache-Betreuer vor Ort.
