Geocache Description:

Located on Route 97 along the Upper Delaware River.

I grew up along the Delaware River where eagle sitings were so common that I never knew how rare these birds were. So i am hoping that by making this cache, it will give people the opportunity to spot a bald eagle (and add one more cache to their stats!)

This area is the largest eagle wintering grounds in the whole northeastern US. During the winter months, 150-200 bald eagles migrate to the region. To learn more about the bald eagle, you can continue down the road and across the Roebling Bridge to PA where the Eagle Institute is located. They are open on weekends during the winter.

Although it's more common to see these majestic birds during the cold months, it's not rare to see one in the summer, whether you're taking a kayak ride down the Delaware, or just taking a Sunday drive on scenic Rt. 97.

If you have time, hang around a bit to see if you can spot any of these beautiful birds of prey. If you do spot one, make sure to visit www.eagleinstitute.org to report your siting! Oh, and make sure you write in your log if you saw one!

BRING YOUR CAMERA! (and your own writing utensil)
