A joint cache. Why? Because the cache is located in the grounds of a supermarket (The Off Yer Trolley! Bit), which were formally platforms of Ilkley Railway Station, before the number of platforms were reduced. (That’s the SideTracked bit).
OFF YER TROLLEY!
This particular cache is inspired by Cromscout & Trouble'N'Strife and part of a nationwide Off Yer Trolley! cache series.
The supermarket is located in former Ilkley Railway Station buildings. The Car Park is on former platforms. You can still park your car under the former platform canpoys
The supermarket was opened as a KwikSave, but as you will see has gone a bit up market since then !!

The Wharfedale Line is like a two pronged fork, one line runs from Leeds, initially on The Airdale Line, before leaving this at Apperly Bridge, on a single line to Esholt Junction where it joins the Bradford line, and then runs on to Guiseley the 1st station for Leeds trains.
The other line starts at Bradford Foster Square, Frizinghall, Shipley (where it crosses The Airedale Line), Baildon and then joins the Leeds branch to form the handle of the fork running via Guiseley, Menson, Burley in Wharfedale, Ben Rydding before terminating at Ilkey
The line was originally owned by the Midland Railway from Leeds to Burley-in-Wharfedale. At this point the line became joint property, with the North Eastern Railway, and was known as the Otley & Ilkley Joint Railway (O&IJt). The line originally carried on from Ilkley, this Midland line served Addingham, Bolton Abbey and Embsay to Skipton. The section from Embsay to Bolton Abbey has been reopened by enthusiasts and operates steam locomotives as the Embsay and Bolton Abbey Steam Railway.
The line was electrified between 1994 and 1995, and is mainly served by four-coach Class 333 electric multiple units operated by Northern Rail
Ilkley station was opened as a terminus in August 1865 by the Otley and Ilkley Joint Railway (Midland and North Eastern railways). A subsequent extension of the line to Skipton via Addingham, Bolton Abbey and Embsay was constructed, including a bridge over the main Ilkley strret Brook Street. . This extension eventually fell victim to Dr Beeching's Reshaping of Britain's Railways report.and was closed to passengers in 1965 and to all traffic at the beginning of 1966, reducing Ilkley to a terminus once more.

In the late 1980s, the roofed area covering the western end of the platforms was closed in and converted into a small supermarket, the lines being shortened to make room for this alteration. The area between former Platforms 3 and 4 (the Skipton through lines) was infilled during electrification work and is now a carpark. The ramp leading up from Station Road passes through the area once occupied by the coal drops at the eastern end of Platform 4.
Ilkley is notable in that it was the last British Rail station to be lit by gas. The gas lights were finally extinguished in the late 1980’s.
Cache was moved to a new location in August 2015, due to continual muggle issues.
