The region around here was Tenryo,direct control ground of Shogunate Government of Edo.
The people in Edo (Old Tokyo)were visiting around here as an easy vacation spot.
A lot of temples were here, and visiting seems to have been active.
Tokuganji Temple is one of them,and it is known as a temple related to Shogun Ieyasu Tokugawa.

このあたり一帯は昔、天領であり、江戸時代の庶民が寺院へのお参りを兼ねた気軽な行楽地として栄えました。
この当たり一帯にはたくさんのお寺があり、札所めぐりが盛んだったそうです。
徳願寺は行徳浦安三十三観音札所のの１番目のお寺としても、徳川家康ゆかりのお寺としても知られています。
