BF_01_Bridge Guard Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

cervisvenator: Hi

While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for the cache owner and block other cachers from placing a cache in the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can’t do so forever.

Nothing seems to happen with this cache listing, so it is now archived, so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if it hasn’t been done already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.

If the owner wants it reopened, send me an e-mail and I’ll be happy to unarchive the cache listing if it still satisfies the requirement/guidelines.

(This reviewer note is in English so non-Norwegian cache owners, geocachers and cache reviewers can understand what it says.)

Thanks for your understanding,
Cervis Venator

Geocache Description:

This may be a bit difficult to find if the snow is deep...,

Short Description: This cache is placed along a path from the Hovseter T-bane station to the Røa næringspark. The path is fairly steep, the walk from the T-bane station is less than 10 minutes. During the winter months caution is needed as the path can get icy.

Long Description:

As you walk on the path from the T-bane station to the left is the Hans Majestet Kongens Garde (HMKG) (lit., His Majesty the King's Guard) a battalion of the Norwegian Army. The battalion has two main roles; it serves as the Norwegian King's lifeguards, guarding the royal residences (the Royal Palace and Skaugum) and Akershus Fortress in Oslo, and is also the main infantry unit responsible for the defense of Oslo.

Bonus information:The valley here is called River Ride "Jungletour", and the name comes either that there were horses here in the old days, or vissnok derivative of Maria Valley. The monks in the Middle Ages was probably through the valley to their properties around Bogstad. Thanks to PPJ for this infomation, sorry for the poor translation into English.
