From San Jose drive to the City of Escazu. (You can also get up the Alajuelita side by taking the "El Llano" bus.) Then drive up the mountain past the Barrio of San Antonio de Escazu. Follow sign to "Pico Blanco Hotel" and continue up the road (do not turn to the Hotel but rather pass the road that goes to the hotel) to the Mirador Restaurante Linda Vista. Park the car and take the dirt road near the restaurant by foot. Continue on this trail and keep looking up the mountain and you will eventually see the cross. On a clear day you will see the cross from the restaurant. The terrain is very steep most of the way up but safe at anytime of the year. I would recommend to go during the non-rainy season as it can be potentially slippery on the way up and down. I would say the best time to go is in the early morning when the weather is generally good. Once you have reached the uppermost cross, if you continue down a path on the left-hand side of the cross, you will make your way to a BEAUTIFUL grassy, hill area.
This is a nice hike. The total time for going all the way around is about 4 hours for the average person. You could reach the top of the cross in 1.5 to 2 hours with some stops for rest and water. The descent takes half the time. The cache is tucked well out of sight, but it's not camoflauged so it's easy to spot... just have to have the right angle :)
