Geocache Description:

Not a bad search.
Terrain isn't bad but walkin' in them stickers isn't fun.

The Texas Spirit Quest is a series of Caches placed by many individuals, near cemeteries and historic sites in hopes of paying respect to the many pioneer ancestors that have ‘walked’ before us. There are hundreds of cemeteries in the rural communities across Texas. This series will introduce you to many of them. The cache pages will provide a virtual history tour of the cemeteries, tombstones and local lore.

While out exploring the many backroads and highways here in West Texas I came across this old cemetary out in the middle of nowhere. I do enjoy the history and the knowledge of past lives and towns. I hope this location will get ya'll to enjoy it to.

LUTHER, TEXAS. Luther, on Farm Road 846 in north central Howard County, was named for its first postmaster, Luther F. Lawrence. The town's post office dates from 1909. Between 1936 and 1947 the population grew from five to ninety and the number of businesses from one to three. By 1966 the population had risen to 335. In 1980 Luther had lost its post office, but the population remained steady at 335 in 1990 and 2000. One of Howard County's oilfields, the Luther Southeast, is located near the town.
