An Extremely Easy Night Cache Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

jim_carson: On Friday, a good samaritan found the container in a poo can near the dock entrance to Yellow Lake, contents strewn around. He picked up what he could (which is very generous since the poo can is full of ... poo) and contacted me. I retrieved the container on the way home to work that evening. Finally got out to ascertain the final location. Unfortunately, the magnificent stump (almost worthy of a SmuddT placement) has gotten beat up and lightly tagged. Alas.

Thanks to all the folks who've visited over the nearly four years it's been around, and congratulations to Fenchurch for her 2200th and Muddy Teapot for her 500th find.

Geocache Description:

Summary: A short (1km), introductory night-cache suitable for children... assuming you can pry them from the nearby playground. It's an easy walk or bike, though there is some mud this time of year, hence the 1.5 rating.

We had a lot of fun with Putts and Yam's Poo Poo Platter, JustMike's The Darkness Calls (GC1GXJ2) and Metzrus4's A Night Out (GC1HGZR). Since we there is plenty of "night" to go around, we wanted to add a super-easy night cache for those who haven't tried one before.

Some important things:
 • The cache is not at the above coordinates, but the coordinates are the starting point. Abundant street parking is available near N47° 34.243 W122° 00.944. You can also bike. The walk is less than 1km
 • Hours: please keep your geocaching activities to 5:30a - 11:59:59pm.
 • Bring a flashlight. For best results hold it near your head when you aim.

The starting coordinates are in front of a bridge. Shine your flashlight towards the bridge and wooded area and you'll see some tiny, highly-reflective dots. Look for these as you walk down the trail to the cache. (The dots appear frequently at first so you'll know what to look for. There's more spacing between them later on... until the final.)

When you're close to the cache, you'll see a quick series of tacks. Before you pass the tree with three tacks, aim your light to your right. Two orange dots mark the hiding place of the final. There is a little geotrail to the final (minor bushwhacking).

You are looking for a green ammo box.

Handicache rating: H23112 - this is meant to be an introductory night cache.

Congratulations to dsvaughn and troublejv for co-FTF. Also congratulations to Muddy Teapot for finding this as her 500th find.
