No jovem concelho de S. Brás de Alportel extraia-se, em grande quantidade, uma das melhores cortiças do mundo.

O visionário industrial Aníbal Gonçalves, na ambição de conseguir importantes exportações, resolve investir na construção de uma nova fábrica de cortiça no Barreiro de modo a usufruir do estuário do Tejo para expedir a sua preciosa cortiça.

In the recent S. Brás de Alportel municipality was extracted, in big quantities, some of the best cork in the world.

Gifted with a wide vision, the industrial Aníbal Gonçalves, with the ambition of getting important exportations, decides to invest in a new cork factory in Barreiro so that he could use the Tejo estuary to export his precious cork.

Numa altura em que as vias de comunicação eram escassas e o Algarve se encontrava praticamente isolado do resto do país, o comboio era o principal meio de transporte para chegar à capital.

Este foi o meio de transporte escolhido pelo Lavrador Gonçalves para se fazer deslocar ao Barreiro... mas nunca lá chegou.

Foi visto pela última vez a entrar no comboio para Norte na estação de Almancil, com uma mala cheia de dinheiro, o seu chapéu de aba direita e o seu cachimbo característico.

In a time that the roads were few and Algarve was nearly isolated from the rest of the country, the train was the main mean of transportations to get to the capital.

This was the transport choose by the farmer Gonçalves to get himself to Barreiro... but he never got there...

He was last seen entering the train that headed North, at Almacil's rail station, with a suitcase full of money, his hat and his characteristic pipe.

Factos curiosos:

- O comboio, embora estivesse a cumprir o horário até à Funcheira, onde abasteceu de água, chegou a Ermidas com um atraso de 50 minutos, por volta das 21:30.

- Tanto o revisor como o maquinista e o ajudante desse comboio se despediram da Companhia dos Caminhos de Ferro na semana seguinte e emigraram para o Brasil de onde nunca mais deram notícias.

Curious facts:

- The train was in schedule when it arrived to Funcheira, where it refill with water, but arrived to Ermidas 50 minutes late, about 21:30.

- The ticket man, the driver and his helper quit their jobs at the Railway in the next week and emigrate to Brazil and never sent news again.

Devido a uma alteração de horários em 1981, o Rápido começou a passar em Ermidas, vindo de Vila Real de Santo António, às 21:30.

Sempre que esse comboio vinha "à tabela", ou seja dentro do horário, vários eram os relatos de estranhas ocorrências na Passagem de Nível ao km 155,8.

Desde estranhos vultos junto aos carris que os maquinistas viam e que afinal não eram nada, até relatos por parte de alguns passageiros, de "uma luz" que parecia acompanhar a composição, se afastava e desaparecia exactamente quando o comboio passava na P.N..

Também houveram vários abalroamentos de veículos nesse local, bem como pessoas trucidadas na linha pelo "Rápido das 21:30".

Apenas um desses acidentes teve uma testemunha. Um pastor que ao chegar à aldeia nessa noite relatou que ouvira os gritos da pessoa colhida pelo comboio. Segundo ele ainda vislumbrou quando a pessoa parecia lutar contra um atacante invisível e acabou por se atirar para a frente do comboio na altura que este passava...

Esse pastor também viria a falecer debaixo desse mesmo comboio 2 semanas depois.

Há quem fale do fantasma do lavrador algarvio roubado e assassinado que procura vingança, e há quem fale da
Maldição do Rápido das 21:30...

Due to a timetables change back in 1981, the Express started to pass by Ermidas, from Vila Real de Santo António, at 21:30.

Every time that the train was on schedule, several were the reports of weird happenings close to the crossing at the km 155,8.

From weird figures close to the tracks that the engine drivers sometimes see and after all were nothing, to passenger reports about "a light" that seemed to run in the outside of the train and suddenly set back and disappear exactly when the trains passed the level crossing.

There were also several collisions between trains and cars, as long as people crushed by the "21:30 Express".

Only one of those accidents had a witness. A sheppard, that when arrived to the village that night reported what he'd heard the screams of the smashed person. According to him, he saw the person that looked like fighting an invisible attacker and jumped into the train's front in the exact moment it was passing...

That sheppard also died under that same train 2 weeks later.

There's who speak about the ghost of the robbed and killed farmer that's seeking for vengeance and there's who speak about the 21:30 Express Curse...

Não há necessidade de se aproximarem demasiado do poço.

The South Railroad is electrified, sealed and isn't allowed the presence of non authorized persons inside the fenced area.
For no reason you may jump it.
There's a real death danger if you do it.

Any of the cache components will make you jump the fence or get near the active track.

In the cache final location you must pay special attention to the existence of a low well.
There's no need to get too close to the well.
The cache is in the opposite side of the tank.
