SparksandCo: Sadly the past time isn’t what it was and constantly having to replace caches becomes a chore, no one seems to be interested in anything but park and grabs and losing TBs has become the norm.
This marks the end of our geocaching adventure really.

Geocache Description:

This is a quick cache ‘n’ dash somewhere I pass everyday on my way to work. It’s at the bottom of the cache rich Hambleden Valley. I have stopped here on a number of occasions in the morning on the way to the office in Marlow to take photographs, some of which you can see here. If you are a photographer then I can highly recommend visiting here during the Golden Hour (the first and last hour of sunlight) as the light can be amazing.


There are many sights and places to visit along the valley. At the top, between Ibstone and Fingest is the windmill in which Caracticus Potts created Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. As you head down into the valley the village of Turville is to the west of you. It is better known as "Dibley" and hosted that famous vicar. Its film debut however was made earlier than that as the cache "Went The Cache Well" (GCECD5) explains.

Our cache can be easily combined with Starkey444’s Hambleden Hidey-Hole (GCXFMP) – and the hospitality of the Stag and Huntsman. Hambleden has also had many starting film and TV roles from Jane Ayre and Sleepy Hollow (yes ladies Johnny Depp trod those actual streets) to 101 Dalmatians. An alternative to the S&H – or if they are filming in the village - is The Frog at Skirmett (what else are you going to call a pub in Skirmett?!). Both pubs do excellent food and great beer. If you want to take some local brew home the head up to Old Luxters Vineyard and Winery (aka the Chiltern Valley Vineyard). Make sure you sample their range before making your mind up.

There is enough room for one or maybe two small cars to pull off the road. Please don’t block the drive of the house opposite. There is a stile to negotiate but the cache is easily reached apart from that.



When you’ve stopped “following the arrow”, found the cache, signed the log, done your swaps and re-hidden the container please don’t just get back in the car and drive off. Just spend a moment to look around and appreciate what a wonderful place we live in. If you have a camera, why not take a photo an upload it? OK, if it’s raining hard you have permission to admire the view through the rapidly misting windows before driving off to a nearby pub.
