Geocache Description:

Very Simple: Find (or place) and log a cache in each county in the Gem State, then go find the final cache. Out of fairness to those completing the challenge, logs not accompanied by completion lists will be deleted. You can go find the cache, but you will be unable to claim it as found on the site until I receive your completion list. These should include the GC of the cache, and the name of the respective county.

I got this idea from County Highpointing. The object of that activity being to reach the highest point in a given county. Some highpointers have visited the highest point in all the counties of all 50 states. Others have done the Western US.

This is a somewhat more pedestrian version of county highpointing, depending how you choose to approach it. Visit a cache in each of Idaho's 44 counties. Any cache, of any type and size is good, as long as it is physically (or in the case of virtual caches, if the designated location is within the county. The point is that you must visit all the counties. And yes, you can count caches you have already visited, even before this cache was published. (I am not interested in making anyone waste gas to revisit places they have already been.) And just because I am not really a HUGE fan of random micro caches, let's say that all cache hides placed to claim counties must be at least "small" sized. Micros are ok to count as finds, of course, as well as Virtual caches, Earth Caches, and others. I would probably stay away from the event caches for this one, but I am not going to delete a log over it. There are 44 counties, so 44 caches are required. Border caches count as one.

I did this challenge cache for Utah in 2003, and it has been a lot of fun for all of us in Utah. I am an Idaho Native, and was stunned that Idaho did not already have one of these. I am going to be getting together a finders pin for those who complete this, but that is still in the works, presently. I really hope this will get everyone out there exploring a state that I greatly enjoy, and am proud to call home.

Photobucket A much easier way to track your progress is to upload your "My Finds" pocket query to www.itsnotaboutthenumbers.com and let it generate your stats for you. It will also build maps showing which countries, states, and counties in which you have found caches, and the statistical breakdown for those data. If you aren't a premium member of gc.com, then you are on your own! There is some discussion of this challenge on the IGO boards, as well.
