FBZ A.P.E. 55: The Monkey's Triangle Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

SGTF: Unfortunately it looks like all three waypoints have been compromised. This cache was a lot of fun to create but I can't keep it up as it's too remote to maintain. All good things must come to an end.

Geocache Description:

Allow yourself at least 4-5 hours to visit the three "scenic" (i.e. peculiar?) spots for this cache; it covers over 60 miles and is best enjoyed as a full day adventure! Also make note of additional waypoints. These trail control points show a possible driving route to the bunker at Stage One. The hint contains helpful information if you are stymied at either of the first two sectors.

At this FBZ, you will discover the fifth (5th) of a series of codewords needed to unlock the final mission location for Operation Silverback. Use SGTF’s cipher to decode secret writings discovered during this and other FBZ adventures.

In all, there are a total of seven (7) caches encompassing this series. Six FBZs contain “intelligence” report(s) and a corresponding secret codeword. Enter these six (6) codewords collectively in the codewords panel at Forbidden Zone Geocaches to unlock coordinates to leading to the seventh and final TOP SECRET FBZ location. Keep in mind that codewords can be gathered in any order so you DO NOT need to visit FBZs sequentially!

Mission Details:
This mission, if you choose to accept it, requires you to visit all three sectors of MK-Delta surrounding the Salton Sea. Reconnaissance gathered here is extremely sensitive. In fact, we’ve decided to release FBZ 55 as a multi-stage cache to ensure evidence will not be compromised by the ill-informed. This strategy guarantees our intelligence will only seen by the most resolute SGTF operatives.

Zone One: First, outside an abandoned bunker on the former Salton Sea Test Base (SSTB) you are provided a MILITARY TELEGRAM containing coordinates to Sector #2. This telegram accompanies other critical intel materials/documents related to the history of the location you are visiting.

Zone Two: At the second location you are provided an odd ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING that needs to be properly interpreted (see hint for clarification) to obtain the coordinates leading to Sector #3.

Zone Three: In Sector #3 you will discover a number of relevant "high value" operational items including the fifth (5th) in a series of codewords needed to unlock the final mission details for Operation Silverback. Remember to use SGTF’s cipher at fbz.geocaches.org to decode secret writings discovered during this and other FBZ adventures.

FBZ A.P.E. 55 contains Special Reconnaisance (SR) related to SGTF's Operation Silverback in the form of Planet of the Apes Memorabilia (POTAM) and scouted intelligence reports. As a clandestine special tactics unit, SGTF has been known to leave POTAM tracking bugs in their FBZs with operative mission instructions related to active Project A.P.E. caches.

FBZs are reserved for POTAM related to SGTF's Silverback operations. Visitors are encouraged to register their visit and leave ONLY items containing relevance to The Planet of the Apes or items that are traditional hitchhikers (e.g. geocoins, travel bugs, etc.). Only place and/or remove TRACKABLE items from this cache (read NO unrelated SWAG); Any POTAM found in this cache designated as NOT TRACKABLE is pertinent to operations for this FBZ and should REMAIN ASSIGNED TO THE CACHE. POTAM labeled PROVISIONAL FTF is considered remittance as reward for the FTF (First to Find) and can be removed freely without restriction or stipulation.

Don't forget to check out the eclectic tourist attractions in this area including Leonard Knight's Salvation Mountain, Slab City and Niland's boiling mud volcanoes!!
