Geocache Description:

Murrysville’s Pleasant Valley Park is a large, (265 acre) natural area containing woodlands, open fields, hilltops and remote valleys. Within the park there are over five miles of excellent single-track trails and old farm roads that are ideal for hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing. Hunting is allowed at this park. Please wear the appropriate orange clothing when caching during hunting season.

Visit the Park’s web site at www.pvpark.org for more information. To print a trail map, click on the Maps | Trail item in the menu. There is a trail map in the bulletin board located at the parking lot. (N 40 24.623  W 79 41.371)

The location of this cache was selected to lead visitors to a particularly remote, interesting area of Pleasant Valley Park. Highway noise doesn't intrude into this valley, so it is a good area to enjoy quiet and the sounds of nature. The cache is located about 30' off an unnamed but obviously maintained trail.  For the shortest route, (1 mi. round trip) follow the old farm road, and look for a spring once used to water cattle. The unnamed trail starts nearby.  For a longer but more scenic route, find and take the Hemlock trail to the same location.

If you find yourself on the wrong trail; please backtrack, don't bushwack or walk on steep slopes.

The Murrysville Trail Alliance is developing and maintaining the trails in PV Park.  Help is needed in this effort.  Volunteers meet thursday at 6:30 PM in the park during Spring and Summer to work on Trails . Please join us!

There are other caches in Pleasant Valley Park that you might want to locate on the same outing.
