Geocache Description:

These coordinates will take you to the path entrance to Gordale Scar, from here you will be able to gather some information, then onwards to the site itself, a walk just under half a mile into, what I think is (and hopefully you will too) one of Britains most striking, daunting, and simply amazing natural features.....

Gordale Scar is an immense Rock which, it was produced by water from melting glaciers. it now forms one of the most awfully grand scenes of rock and water in the UK; the highest part being not less than 300 feet; the right or east side projects more than ten yards over its base, and such is the noise of the overwhelming torrent, after rain, that if a person be under the rock, he is unable to make himself heard at ten yards distance. This is a solid mass of limestone, of, perhaps, equal height with Malham Cove.

This place if you have never been before will take your breath away, it is an amazing place. The waterfall can be climbed in good weather but should not be attempted unless you are an able climber / scrambler.

Having visited many places in the UK, and around the world, this place still stopped me in my tracks ! it is simply stunning, the picture below shows the walk to the cache, from here you cannot appreciate the scale of it, you need to turn the corner....

When you see the real thing it will be put into perspective! please make sure for your own sake that when you get the the main arena you don't amble around the side walls with all the 'have a quick look and go back to the car group', get waded through those falls and up to the rock, even if you don't climb it it is awesome to stand at look at so close, I really hope you enjoy this Earthcache and tell your friends about when you return

It's like another world when you turn that corner! Oh and don't forget there is another traditional cache here too that will keep you busy....

To log this cache please answer the following questions, answers in an email please not in your logs...

Lots of photo's on the logs welcomed.

It would be great to see some decent logs too.

Please no 'thanks for the cache' - quick cache n dash type logs, let me know what you think of the place compared to where you have been before, I do enjoy reading the logs, and hope I can bring people here for the first time, and hopefully introduce it more people who will appreciate it.

Enjoy

PLEASE NOTE: I receive a very high number of Earthcache emails, I can’t reply to them all otherwise I’d be doing nothing else all day, as has always been the case there is no need to await a reply from me regarding your answers…. However due to numerous people thinking they can just log these caches without emailing any answers, and/or completing the required tasks these will be picked up, and the logs will be deleted without further communication. To facilitate this Please email your information either before, or AT THE SAME TIME OF LOGGING THE CACHE, Thanks.
