How Geocaching Works

Geocache Description:

A Flash Mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, do something unusual for a brief period of time, and then quickly disperse.

A WWFM is a World-Wide Flash Mob for Geocachers. This event will be one small part of WWFM IV. Many Canberra geocachers participated in WWFM II at Aspen Island (GC16VD3) and WWFM III at the Australian War Memorial (GC19Y0Q). At both of these events there were over 65 people in attendance and 43 registered cachers. Can we get even more this time??? Maybe not, but it should still be a lot of fun.

WHEN: This event will begin precisely at 5am on Sunday, November 9th.
Yes, that is 5am in the morning!
You may be wondering at this unusual gathering time, but this event is being held simultaneously with the majority of other WWFM events worldwide. This time was also narrowly chosen by the majority of local cachers in a GCA poll, so I am expecting at least those 18 folks to attend!
The WWFM will be only 15 minutes long. You MUST be present and sign the log sheet DURING this time to claim this event.

WHERE: On the bridge at Woden Park – as per the posted coords.

WEAR: Your pyjamas – it is a pyjama party after all!
No excuses – even though it is an early start, you only have to roll out of bed & jump in your geo-mobile.

WHAT: There are lots of prizes on offer this time, but you MUST be in your PJs to qualify for one of 15 lucky door prizes of WWFM pathtags. Plus there is a special prize for the cacher who has the best pyjamas (as judged by Tealby’s panel of official judges!). I will also have some goodies for the littlest cachers that come in their PJs.

VOLUNTEER HELPER NEEDED: Official photographer – someone to set up a tripod/camera with a timer for the formal group photo - thanks Aussiepuschaks for offering to help with this!

Given the very early timing of this event, there will be no formal post-event gathering. I cannot think of any suitable place that would be open at that time of the day, plus I am not too keen on being out in public for too long in my PJs!

Also - given that this is the day after another event, I ask that there is no GC/TB trading at this event, unless you want to log in/out personal items for tracking purposes.

While you are in the area I suggest you also tackle the following caches:
A Special Spiral, and
Woden Warren (although you might want a change of clothing to tackle this one)
