Frost Peak Traditional Geocache
Knotaklu: I made an ATV trip to Frost Peak today. The cache is in great shape but the access road has been recently gated and locked about 3 miles from the summit. That being the case, I decided it was best to just remove the cache and archive the listing. I may move the cache to the Forest Service's Idaho Peak on the Idaho-Montana boarder next week.

Frost Peak is easily seen from I-90 near Cataldo Id. The view at the summit and along the way are well worth the drive, even without a cache.
I couldn't resist putting a cache on Frost Peak since I can see it from my living room. Like many of the old forest service lookouts in the area, there is a road to the peak. It is all old logging roads from Kingston. The route I use is up French Gulch and West French Gulch roads. A vehicle with good ground clearance is recommended. I think any SUV could make it. The most rocky part of the road starts about a mile from the summit so some may chose to walk that section. There are logging roads going every which way along the way but the route up is pretty obvious. The view is really spectacular from the summit.
