Na uboci navrsi Chmelnice, Janskeho a Sibenicniho vrchu se rozklada trutnovsky mestsky park.
Jeste v 19. stoleti zde byly louky, pole, nekolik hospodarskych staveni a stodol. Dne 27. cervna 1866 se zde odehraly krvave boje mezi pruskou a rakouskou armadou. V roce 1888 zacaly prace na premene mista na mestsky park. Prvni stromy byly zasazeny v roce 1889 a dnes jsou z nich vzrostli velikani. Historie parku je ale castecne predmetem zkoumani jine mistni cache, my se budeme venovat dvema geologickym „pamatnikum“.
Na vychozich souradnicich stoji Mohyla z araukaritu.
Araukarity jsou velmi verne zkameneliny stromu, pochazejicich z prvohor z obdobi permokarbonu. Velmi dobre je v nich zachovana struktura dreva. Vznikaly zasypanim kmenu nebo jejich kusu sopecnym popelem a jejich naslednym zkamenenim pomoci oxidu kremiciteho. Nektere kusy se daji brousit do vysokeho lesku, cimz jeste ziskavaji na hodnote. V trutnovskem parku z nich byla navrsena a umele pospojovana mohyla. V roce 1905 na ni byl umisten portret basnika Schillera, provedeny v bilem mramoru.
O neco vyse ve svahu, na souradnicich N 50° 33.442 E 015° 54.756 stoji Mohyla z granitovych kamenu. Tato mohyla je jednou ze zastavek multicache Trutnov, nas ale bude zajimat pouze z hlediska geologickeho. Granit neboli zula je kysela hlubinna magmaticka hornina, slozena z kremene (20 az 40 %), zivce a mensiho mnozstvi tmavych mineralu (5 az 20 %). Ze zivcu jsou to predevsim alkalicke zivce (ortoklas a mikroklin), v mensi mire je zastoupen plagioklas (albit az oligoklas). Z ostatnich mineralu jsou nejcastejsi biotit nebo muskovit, dale amfibol a ruzne akcesorie (titanit, apatit, zirkon, turmalin aj.); z druhotnych mineralu chlorit, epidot, sericit a kaolinit. Struktura granitu byva stredne zrnita az hrubozrnna. Granity jsou nejrozsirenejsi plutonicke horniny svrchni kury. Za nejvetsi granitovy masiv na svete je povazovan masiv Sierra Nevady v Kalifornii. V Ceske republice jsou granity soucasti napr. zulovskeho plutonu, krkonossko-jizerskeho masivu, moldanubickeho centralniho plutonu, masivu Smrcin, Krusnych hor, Cisarskeho lesa a dalsich. V Trutnovskem parku byla take z granitovych kamenu navrsena mohyla, nedaleko te z araukaritu. Zdobi ji portret purkmistra Flögla, diky kteremu byl park vybudovan.

Trutnov municipal park is situated on the slope of Jansky Hill.
In the 19th century there still were meadows, fields, several farming houses and barns. On June 27th 1866 the bloody battle between Prussian and Austrian armies took place here. In 1888 there were started garden works for transformation this place into municipal park. The first trees were planted in 1889 and some of them you can find in the park to this day.
Araukarit tumulus on starting coordinates
Araukarits are very trustworthy fossilized trees derivable from Palaeozoic from period permokarbon. They show structure of wood very well. Araukarits originated by overhelming trunks by volcanic ash and their resulting fossilizing by the help of silica. They are sought after for their well-preserved structure as decoration for gardens. There were tumulus from araukarits in Trutnov´s park There was placed portrait of poet Schiller in the year 1905, done from white marble.
Granite tumulus – high on slope, on coordinates N 50° 33.442 E 015° 54.756
This tumulus is one of the stages of multicache Trutnov, but we will be interested only in the geologic aspect. Granite is a acid deep mine magmatic rock, composing of flint (from 20 till 40 %), spar and smaller quantity dark minerals (from 5 till 20 %). From spars there are alkaline spar (orthoclase) and plagioclase. From other minerals there are most frequent black mica or white mica, hornblende and various accessories (sphene, apatite, zircon, tourmaline etc. Structure of granite used to be medium granular. A tumulus from granite stones was raised in Trutnov Park.
