Avolouhos - Open quarry Traditional Geocache

Kätkö sijaitsee avolouhoksen reunalla. Aidatun alueen sisälle EI tarvitse eikä saa itse mennä, kätkön saa otettua aidan ulkopuolelta.

Lohjalla louhittiin kalkkikiveä avolouhoksilla 1897 - 1956. Tämä kätkö esittelee toisen avolouhoksen, jonka reunalta on melkoiset näkymät vanhalle louhokselle. Pohjassa oleva kuilu menee tosiaan melko syvälle, jos käytte kaivosmuseossa ja pääsette kalkkikaivoksen sisälle saatatte nähdä yhdessä kohtaa kaivosta katossa suuren luukun joka on juntattu kiinni. Kyseinen luukku on tuon kuilun pohjalla ja sen kautta louhittua kiveä tuotiin ulos.

Talvella kätkö saattaa olla lumen/jään peitossa eikä välttämättä saatavilla. Varokaa piikkilankaa.

The cache is located on the edge of the quarry. You don't need, nor are you allowed, to go to the other side of the fence, the cache is reachable behind the fence.

This quarry was used to mine limestone and was active from 1897 to 1956. There's a nice view to the old quarry from the cache location. The hole in the bottom of the quarry leads to the mines below, it was used to bring out the rocks from the mine. If you are able to go to the mine museum you might see a big "door" on the roof somewhere, that's where the hole ends.

This cache might not be accessible during winter if there's a lot of snow and/or ice. Watch out for the barbed wire!
