Geocache Description:

A 50 cal. ammo box hidden a little off the path in a park near Grant's Tomb. Most of the difficulty rating is due to the terrain, which can be a little steep.

As LL Cool J said, "Don't call it a comeback!" It's the return of "NYC Alpha" (GC9D) It was not only the first cache placed in NYC, but it was one of the original 200 caches placed! Ever! In the whole world!

I was trying to revive the original cache, but it's been archived too long. So, I contacted the original owner (cool guy) and we got together (along with AugustoJr) to place this cache.

Now, as this cache is in NYC, we wanted a little "NYC twist". Generally, you can't put anything down in this city without someone walking away with it. Cars get steering wheel locks, homes have deadbolts, bikes get chain locks... so this cache also got locked down. BUT.. this cache is no longer locked down. Yes, this cache has the distinction of being one of the few things in NYC that isn't locked down.

NOTE: DO NOT ATTEMPT FROM THE HIGHWAY! Parking is available on the street.

We dropped a lot of stuff in it, some trackable, some not. (some TB's, a coin or two, an issue of "The Gotham Times", some black toilet paper, a Hillary 2008 pin, a mini dart board and darts, etc..) Hope you enjoy. If you're visiting Grant's Tomb, this is a must.

Please be wary of muggles and "residents". Please re-hide cache as well, if not better, than found.
