The First Church Cemetery is located Across from the Old Town Hall, Town Street, Little Haddam section of East Haddam.
This cemetery is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Freedom Trail. This cemetery is also the final resting place of Venture Smith (1729-1805). He was captured as a child in Africa and brought to Connecticut as a slave. He would work other jobs to raise money to but freedom for himself, his wife and children. His sons served in the American Revolution and War of 1812.
