Prairie Overlook aka Di's
cache
An andrewmcc/William
O'Brien cache
This cache is placed at the
highest point in the park. According to my Garmin 60gsx it is at
1000'. From here you can see the St Croix river valley and into
Wisconsin. In the fall this is the place to be. The St Croix river
valley is known for the fall color.
The cache is next to a beautiful
hiking trail that you can start from the visitor center but in the
winter you can only use the trail with skis, you CAN NOT hike
on the groomed ski trail. There is a shorter way to get to the
cache that has a short 80' climb. See the parking coordinates
below.
When I asked Diane Hedin the park
naturalist where a good place to put a cache in the park. This is
the place one HAD to go! So she gets credit in the cache
name.
