Patikointia ja jyrkkää ylämäkeä sisältävä, sekä hieman
extremehenkeäkin vaativa kätkö pohjoisimmassa Valkealassa.
Hiking and craggy uphill in the northest Valkeala. Some extreme
spirit is also needed.
Ukkosvuori tai Ukkovuori sijaitsee lähellä Nuolniemen kylää aivan
Kouvolan pohjoisimmassa nurkassa. Vuori on Kouvolan ja samalla koko
Kymenlaakson korkein maastokohta. Vuoren korkeus merenpinnasta
mitattuna on 158,5 m.
Ukkovuori on jylhä kallio. Vuoren reunat muodostavat pitkähkön
yhtenäisen kalliojyrkännealueen. Jyrkänteiden alla on paljon
kalliosta irronneita lohkareita sekä näistä muodostuneita
lohkareluolia.
Vuoren huipulla on ollut ainakin kaksi kolmimittaustornia. Näistä
jälkimmäinen rakennettiin 1970-luvun loppupuolella. Tämäkin torni
on jo lahottuaan kaatunut/kaadettu, mutta sen jäänteitä on vielä
näkyvissä huipulla.
Vuoden 1918 sisällissodan aikana valkoiset ja punaiset kävivät
taisteluja Ukkovuoren rinteillä. Perimätiedon mukaan kaatuneita
punaisia olisi haudattu vuorelle. Myös Suomen entinen Presidentti
Urho Kekkonen osallistui Ukkovuorella käytyihin taisteluihin
valkoisten puolella.
Kätkö ei sijaitse vuoren huipulla vaan erään jyrkänteen
alapuolella. Jyrkkää ylämäkeä kätköltä huipulle kertyy n. 250 m
verran ja vertikaalista nousua n. 40 metriä. Näkymät huipulta ovat
kiipeämisurakan arvoiset.
Toivottavaa olisi, että lähestyisit kätköä joko etelän tai lännen
suunnasta. Etelän suunnasta on mahdollista päästä noin 300 metrin
päähän kätköstä henkilöautollakin metsäautotietä myöten. Vuorelle
Nuolniemen kylän läpi pohjoisen suunnasta lähtevät tiet kulkevat
maatilojen pihapiirien läpi eikä autoilu pihojen läpi ole sallittu.
Kätkönmentäviä koloja paikalla todellakin riittää lukemattomia
määriä. Lisävihje ja viimeistään spoilerikuva auttavat
löytämisessä.
Kätkörasiaan sopivat geokolikot sekä normaalin kokoiset
reissaajatkin. Kätkön löytää myös talvella. Terrain-luokitus
luonnollisesti kasvaa lumitilanteesta riippuen.
Ole varovainen louhikossa ja jyrkänteillä liikkuessasi. Etenkin
lasten kanssa.
Kätkön läheisyydestä löytyy myös lähde, jossa voit sammuttaa

Ukkovuori cliff stand near Nuolniemi village in the northest corner
of Kouvola. Ukkovuori is the highest cliff in the Kouvola and also
in the whole Kymenlaakso region. The cliff rises 158,5 meter above
the sea level.
Ukkovuori is a lofty rock. The edges of the cliff form a long
precipice area. Below the precipice you can find a lot of boulders
and also caves forms by boulders.
There has been at least two triangulation towers on top of the
Ukkovuori. The latter was built in the end at 1970 but nowadays it
has been decomposed and only some leftovers can be find.
During the civil war of Finland in the year 1918 the whites and the
reds battled at the Ukkovuori hillside. Local history tells that
some fell red soldiers are buried the cliff. Also the ex-president
of Finland Urho Kekkonen take part to fight among the whites.
The cache locate below the precipice. The number of possible hiding
places are enourmous. Additional hint or at least spoiler picture
will help.
Distance on top of Ukkovuori from cache is about 250 meter and
vertical distance 40 meter. Landscape from summit are worth
climbing.
It is desirable that you approach the cache from south or west. It
is possible to drive by car quite near the cache (about 300 meter)
by using the forest road from south. Roads that comes from north
goes through yards of the local farms and driving by car is
forbidden.
The cache box can handle geocoins and normal size travel bugs. It
is possible to find the cache also in winter time. Terrain rating
naturally grows depending snow conditions.
Be careful when you are moving precipice area. Especially when you
are moving with kids.
