O'dowd Lake Rope Swing
When I was a kid growing up in Shakopee, this was one of my favorite places to go swimming in the summer. The rope swing has been around for years, and the tree still hasn't fallen into the lake. It is on an island, but there is a peninsula running close to it, then its just a short swim to it. Of course you could always launch at the public access and boat over. It's a bit of work, but just being there is worth it. Be careful of muggles in the summer, there are often kids at the rope swing. Also, bring a bag and CITO if you can, the island is full of trash, mainly broken bottles and cans. Because of the broken glass, shoes are strongly recommended. If you don't like water, you can always wait till winter. The fishing is excellent in this area and there is plenty of area to snowmobile.
