The DFW Top 10 Countdown Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Zeke's Uncle: Since I placed the cache back in 2008, the park and the neighborhood have gone down hill. In fact, back in 2016, a police officer was shot and killed about 50 feet from GZ. The container was removed during the investigation. Since then, I have allowed anyone who has found the top 10 to just log the find. I figure, if you went through all the trouble to do this cache, you can log it. But, today, there is not enough interest in this cache to keep it going. Cachers today want quick lamp post finds for their numbers. They no longer take the time to look around them and see all the great places caching can take them. Nor do they care about the history of the game. Therefore, I'm archiving this cache because it no longer seems to hold a purpose. Thanks to all who took the time to find the historic oldest caches in DFW.

Geocache Description:

THE CACHE IS AT THE POSTED COORDINATES

Welcome to the DFW TOP 10 COUNTDOWN!  The objective of this cache is to find and log the 10 oldest caches in the DFW area.  For purposes of this cache, DFW area is defined as the counties of Collin, Dallas, Denton, Tarrant and Rockwall.
  • RULES
  • Only Traditional, Multi and Unknown caches with log books in containers were considered.  The size of the cache did not matter.
  • All previous finds count.  No one starts at zero unless they have not yet found these caches.  Owners of the 10 oldest caches ARE allowed to find this cache.  Smileys for everyone!
  • You must have physically visited the site, located the cache, signed the log, and logged your find on geocaching.com.
  • Generally accepted rules and guidelines for logging a cache apply. You must also satisfy any conditions set forth on the individual cache's listing.
  • Only caches available to everyone apply. "Premium Member Only" caches do not apply although a few may be older in the list. This is done to give everyone a chance at this cache and PMO caches might restrict that.
  • Only active caches apply.  If one of the 10 becomes disabled or archived, the next cache in line according to date hidden, moves up in the list.
  • If that disabled cache becomes enabled, it will assume it's proper place in the rankings.
  • If one of the 10 has 3 consecutive "Did Not Finds" and has not been disabled or archived, the next cache in line according to date hidden history may be substituted with permission from this cache's owner - Zeke's Uncle.
  • The final is a small sized cache container rated at a 2/2, but the listed rating inherits the 5/5 due to the logging requirements.
  • Other issues that arise will be dealt with on a case by case basis.
  • SUBMITTING A FIND
  • Create a Bookmark List for this cache.
  • Your List should include the dates you found the caches.
  • Once you complete your List, post a note to this cache page for review.
  • After review, I will post a note with the OK to go for the final cache.
  • Once you have visited the site, located the cache and signed the log book, you may log your find.
