Botanical garden and arboretum in Štramberk is situated in the territory of an old limestone quarry called "Dolní Kamenárka" and its surroundings. The ground is very rugged, with a sizable overtopping. The present area of the newly planted garden is almost 10 hectares. First plants were planted here in 1999. Calciphilous and thermophile vegetation of the Štramberk origin represents the main part of the future exposition of the rock garden. At its bottom there is a unique limestone marshland rich in water plants.
