Welcome to Peebles Cemetery

Ogden Township, Lenawee County, Michigan

Peebles Cemetery is located just a half-mile north of the Ohio/Michigan border, barely in Lenawee County. The cemetery has three graves of people who passed away in the 1810's. However, judging from when the majority of burials began to occur, was the 1840's when these grounds were established.

The cemetery, which is sometimes known as "Old Ogden Cemetery" has four members of the Peebles family on it's property.

William and Ursula had an infant, unnamed son, who must have died at childbirth. Ursula may have died from the procedure as well, she died at the young age of 20. William went on to live 38 more years until his death in 1890. There is also a fallen stone for Wallace Peebles, perhaps William's brother, nearby, who died at the age of 19 in 1957. Sounds like it must have been a terrible, tragic life for the family.

If anyone has more information on the history of the cemetery, or the individuals buried here, please let us know. We will happily include it on this page.

Congrats to Scouter Joe for winning the challenging FTF race we had here Labor Day!
